Last years critically acclaimed Still Alice is still raising awareness for Alzheimer’s disease and for caregivers nationwide. A national educational screening tour begins this month.
The 2014 drama earned Juliane-Moore a best-actor Oscar for her performance as a linguistics professor confronting early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
Still Alice shows how her family begin to approach Alice's caregiving and her future struggle. The film has been selected by AARP for a series of nationwide screenings. AARP has selected and sponsored the screenings to support the I Heart Caregivers Initiative.
The I Heart Caregivers initiative recognizes the 42 million Americans who help older spouses or parents live independently.
Myrna Blyth, AARP Senior Vice President:
"Still Alice portrays a poignant story about living and caring for someone with Alzheimer’s.
(This)presents a tremendous opportunity to not only share this powerful story but to give voice to the millions of family caregivers across America, and share valuable information and resources with them."
