The Washington Informer featured an article detailing a caregiver facing a common dilemma. The caregiver needed to care for her aging parents over 400 miles away and did not have any opportunity to relocate.
Diane Morgan-Brown, the caregiver "My parents are very independent and want their privacy. The idea of living with other people, especially in my home with two small children, was not a viable solution for them”.
Brown was able to find a U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development program that of
“HUD’s conversion program promoted seniors ‘aging in place’ – meaning new features were added to existing homes to make them safer and more accessible for seniors whose mobility was compromised or simply declining. My husband and I thought that with a few thousand dollars, we could transform my parents’ home into a place that mimicked assisted living safety,”
